The top application in cloning : to correct a mistake

Exceptional geldings examples are countless legion. Producing their clone is absolutely a genetic extra value. As a breeding animal, a clone is 100% identical to the model. Here are some explanations.

Which breeder hasn't dreamt of producing foal out of Milton or Jappeloup, those outstanding horses ?
  • As previously stated (see above cloning/genetic), eventhough the gene pool is identical, the clone might differ from the model due to environmental conditions. But the goal here is only to produce an identical genitor. The clone possesses therefore the donor's 100 % gene pool.
  • Should an epigenetic phenomenon occur, a new reproducing cycle might then fix an imperfect reprogramming sequence : clones gestation anomalies noticed won't be transmitted to the next generation. This has been experimentally verified in the bovine species.
  • At last, a clone with different mitochondria will not transmit them since spermatozoon do not transmit their mitochondria.
Cryozootech's clones do belong to this class. In our mind, the breeding world will benefit the most from this application.
